But did you also try the same faxmodem on another system?

All tests were made on ttyS0 and ttyS1 both, actually on two different linux boxes an Intel from and an other fromboth running Slackware I presumed here that there should be a driver for the serial modem but did not find anything in the kernel config which appeared to be that.
Instead I was recommended to buy a faxmodem with many LEDs. Just a few ideas, not yet a clear solution, I am afraid. I have done this on my laptop, and it worked within minutes.
